How to Care for a Killer Carnivorous Grow Kit
Watering with the Killer Carnivorous Grow Set
Carnivorous plants from the Killer Carnivorous Grow Set prefer moist conditions. Water them regularly, but never too much, so the substrate stays moist but not soaking wet. Preferably use demineralized water or rainwater to prevent limescale buildup. For example, you can combine our special potting soil for aroids with moist peat moss such as sphagnum moss for optimal moisture management.
Light requirements of the Killer Carnivorous Grow Set
Carnivorous plants grow best in bright, indirect light. So place your grow kit near an east- or west-facing window where they'll get plenty of morning or afternoon light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can burn the delicate leaves. If you have a dark balcony or room, you can opt for additional lighting from our range of grow kits to grow your own plants . This way, your plants will always get enough light.
Common problems
Yellow leaves
Yellow leaves are often caused by insufficient nutrition or too much sunlight. First, check your watering and light levels. Move the pot if it's in direct sunlight or reduce the amount of water. Also check if your substrate is still well-draining and, if necessary, replace it with fresh potting soil from the potting soil and accessories collection.
Plant drips
A dripping plant can indicate overwatering or unheated roots. Ensure the bottom of the pot isn't sitting in standing water. Always allow excess moisture to drain through the drainage system after watering. Use a pot with holes or a special growing container and combine it with hydroponic clay or Leca for extra aeration.
Plagues
Aphids and fungus gnats are sometimes seen on young plants. Combat these pests promptly with our sticky traps against fungus gnats . Inspect leaves weekly and remove any insects with a plant sprayer or soft cloth. For persistent infestations, you can isolate the plants and treat them.
Roots emerge from the soil
If roots are protruding from the bottom of the pot, your plant is ready for repotting. Move it to a slightly larger pot or repot it in fresh soil. Choose a pot from our potting soil and accessories collection that is at least 2 cm larger in diameter. Keep the roots moist during repotting and give it a light watering afterward.
Brown edges on leaves
Brown edges usually indicate overly dry air or too much direct sunlight. Increase the humidity by regularly misting the plants with a plant sprayer or placing a water dish nearby. Avoid placing the pot too close to radiators or drafts. Carnivorous plants often thrive in a bathroom with natural light.
