How to care for a Leca ball 3L

Watering with Leca balls 3L

With Leca 3L granules, you can water plants in a controlled manner. First, soak the granules overnight in water so they absorb all the nutrients. Then, fill the reservoir to about one-third of the pot's height and top up to the desired water level. Check the water level weekly and top up as needed to prevent root dryness.

Light for Leca balls 3L

Make sure your planter with Leca 3L balls is placed in a location with bright, indirect sunlight. Direct, bright sunlight can overheat the water reservoir and cause root damage. Combine your Leca substrate with an air-purifying plant like the ZZ plant or a Dracaena marginata , for example. This will create a green space that stays both beautiful and healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Leca balls 3L poisonous?

Leca 3L pellets are an inert product made from fired clay and contain no toxic substances. They are safe for your plants, pets, and children. If any granules accidentally fall on the ground, you can easily sweep them up and reuse them.

What variants are there?

There are various substrate solutions and grain sizes available for your planting adventure:

Common problems

Yellow leaves

Yellow leaves can be caused by prolonged dryness or overwatering. Check that the water reservoir is full and that the Leca balls are sufficiently moist. It might be helpful to read about root rot in our blog post .

Plant is dripping

A dripping pot often indicates overfilling the water reservoir or excessive water flow. Do not fill Leca 3L balls above the recommended water line and, if necessary, use a water sprayer or an Elho 1.5L watering can for precise dosing. Keep a moisture meter handy to detect leaks early.

Pests

Although Leca is less attractive to soil-dwelling pests, fruit flies and spider mites may appear in the area. For prevention, use sticky tape or hang a plant sprayer nearby. Address pests quickly to prevent the spread to other plants, such as Monstera deliciosa .

Roots emerge from the bottom

Sometimes roots grow through the drainage holes, especially with young cuttings in Leca 3L balls. This means your substrate and water management are good. Trim off excess roots or repot in a slightly smaller diameter pot from our collection of flower pots .

Brown edges on the leaves

Brown leaf tips often occur due to low humidity or poor water quality. Rinse Leca 3L balls with clean water and preferably use rainwater or filtered water. Consider placing a humidifier nearby or a bowl of water on the windowsill.

By using Leca 3L balls, you're choosing a sustainable, reusable, and easy-care solution. Order now and give your plants the perfect start in a clean, controlled substrate.
