How to care for a gold-colored cutting station

Watering for the Gold-Colored Cutting Station

Change the water in the glass tubes every three to seven days for optimal root growth. Using lime-free water prevents rapid buildup on glass and metal. In dry weather, add a few drops of jungle mist spray around the cuttings to increase humidity.

Light for the Gold-Colored Station

Place the propagator in a location with bright, indirect sunlight to ensure the new roots receive sufficient energy. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can quickly heat the water and promote algae growth. A location near a northeast-facing window or under a Dracaena marginata will keep the temperature stable.

Common problems

Yellow leaves

Yellow leaves on your cutting often indicate over-watering or insufficient light. Check that the water remains clear and replace it regularly. For additional tips, read our blog post on what to do about root rot .

Station leaking

Is water leaking from the bottom? Check that the rubber ring around the tubes is properly tightened. Keep the metal base dry and, if necessary, use a saucer or our Leca hydro-granule clay granules to absorb excess water. This will keep your windowsill free from splashes.

Pests

Although feeding stations themselves don't provide food, they can attract mosquitoes such as fungus gnats. Place sticky traps around your station to deter fungus gnats . Clean the tubes regularly to prevent moss growth and minimize the attraction of insects.

Roots protrude from the bottom

Tiny roots sometimes appear to grow through the holes; this is actually a good sign that your cutting has active growth potential. Don't leave it in one tube for too long, as the roots will eventually need space in the potting soil. Once at least 3 cm of root is visible, transplant your cutting into potting soil, for example, potting soil from our potting soil and accessories collection .

Brown edges on leaves

Brown edges are often caused by a draft that's too cold or too low humidity. Move the cutting a little further away from open windows or drafty doors. Increase the humidity with a plant sprayer or humidifier, and make sure water doesn't sit on the leaves.
