How to care for a Shiny Yellow Pot
Watering Shiny yellow pot
The Glossy Yellow pot has an integrated drainage layer that allows excess water to drain easily. Give your plant in this pot a generous amount of water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist. Be careful not to allow water to pool in the decorative layer below to prevent root rot. For tips on proper potting soil and drainage, please consult our 5L potting soil for aroids or perlite.
Light Glossy Yellow Pot
Place the Glossy Yellow pot in a spot with indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight can fade the yellow color and make the pot overheat. A bright location, such as near a window with a light curtain filter, is ideal. For plants that prefer shade, you can combine this pot with an Epipremnum-Pinnatum-Aureum or a Sansevieria-Zeylanica.
Common problems
Yellow leaves
Yellow leaves can indicate overwatering or underwatering. Always check the moisture content of the potting mix before watering again. Also ensure adequate drainage in the Glossy Yellow pot to prevent stagnation. Read more about root rot in our blog post: What to do about root rot in your houseplants.
Plant dripping
If your plant is dripping water, it could mean the humidity is too high or that you've just watered it. Always remove excess water quickly and improve air circulation if necessary. Don't place the pot in a closed greenhouse or a damp corner of your home. For additional tips on regulating humidity, read 5 tips to increase humidity in your home.
Pests
Suckers, spider mites, and mealybugs sometimes thrive in the potting soil. Check your plant regularly for sticky leaves and white threads. If you discover any, use our sticky traps for fungus gnats or a plant sprayer with jungle mist to combat the pest.
Roots emerge from the bottom of the pot
If roots are growing out of the drainage holes, it means your plant is running out of root space. Repot your plant in a slightly larger pot from our collection of basic white gloss slanted pots or premium yellow gloss pots. This allows your plant to continue growing without putting pressure on the roots.
Brown edges on the leaf margin
Brown edges often result from air that is too dry or insufficient water absorption. Ensure the potting soil remains evenly moist and increase the humidity around the pot. If necessary, combine it with a humidifier or a plant hanger to create additional humidity.
