Caring for the Pachira Aquatica
When it comes to caring for the Pachira Aquatica, it doesn't make many demands. An ideal choice for people who want to add some greenery to a room, but don't always have the time to care for it. So outside of your home, it would also fit perfectly in your office or student room. Read more about its care below.
How much water does the Pachira Aquatica need?
Since the Pachira Aquatica stores water in its trunk, you should only water it when the soil has dried out completely. So when watering, you should be careful not to soak the soil, but make sure it is slightly moist. Usually, watering it once every 2 or 3 weeks is sufficient. If you forget to water it, the leaves will turn brown and/or yellow.
How much light does the Pachira Aquatica need?
The Pachira Aquatica prefers a spot with indirect sunlight, it can also tolerate little light. So it is not at all difficult about where you place it. If you want to place it in the shade, the plant will still grow quickly but with slightly fewer leaves. Also make sure that you do not leave it in a place with direct sunlight for too long, as this can change the colors of your leaves.

Brown or yellow leaves on the Pachira Aquatica
The Pachira Aquatica normally has dark green leaves. These can change to brown or yellow leaves for various reasons. If you give it too much water, this can not only cause root rot , but also discoloration of your leaves. In addition, its leaves become too dry if you give it too little water and this causes them to discolor to brown or yellow. As mentioned before, the Pachira Aquatica prefers indirect sunlight, so if you do want to place it in direct sunlight, it should not be for too long. This can also cause brown and/or yellow spots because the leaves become too dry.
Repotting Pachira Aquatica
By repotting the Pachira Aquatica regularly, you give it more room to grow. Then place it in a new pot with new potting soil . Make sure that you do not expose it to direct sunlight immediately after repotting and leave it alone for a while, as it is a bit more fragile after repotting.
Is the Pachira Aquatica poisonous?
The Pachira Aquatica is not poisonous to humans, but for pets such as cats and dogs it is important to make sure they do not ingest any of the leaves. This can cause them to vomit and lose their appetite for a while.
