Decoration
Peat moss is also a great decorative addition. Think moss art, terrariums and even green walls. It gives a natural look and is relatively low maintenance. Perfect for adding a green, soothing touch to your home or office.Environmental protection
Because peat moss can hold so much water, it plays a crucial role in preventing soil erosion. In addition, peatlands where peat moss grows help to sequester carbon, which in turn contributes to the fight against climate change. How do you use peat moss?
Want to use peat moss in your garden or for your houseplants? Here are a few tips:- Soil conditioner: Mix peat moss into your potting soil to improve water retention. This is especially useful for plants that like a humid environment.
- Mulch: Put a layer of peat moss on top of the soil to retain moisture and prevent weed growth. Especially during the summer months, this is recommended to ensure that your soil dries out less quickly and that you therefore have to water less often.
- Planters : Use peat moss in hanging baskets and planters for better drainage and to prevent root rot.
- Plant cuttings: peat moss can also be used perfectly for cutting your plants because of its moisture. Moisten the peat moss with a plant spray and stick it together with your cuttings in a closed but transparent container. This way the light still reaches your cuttings and you create a super humid microclimate.
